The scene fades in and the camera scrolls across a giant building in a busy city.
The camera zooms into an open office. Two different scenes are present at the same time, split vertically.
Scene on the left: Two people are present.
Paul, a Caucasian man, is conducting a job interview. The interviewee, Harry is African American.
The camera zooms into his resume, showing his qualifications. Harry’s resume seems more than qualified for the job with a bachelor’s degree and prior work
experience.
The camera then zooms into the faces of both people.
Words are exchanged. Harry makes a very good first impression. Paul, however seems to dislike Harry and is annoyed by him.
The interview is cut short. PAUL
Thank you for your time Harry. We will inform you of the status of your interview in two business days.
HARRY
Thank you for this opportunity. Harry shakes Paul’s hand and exits.
Camera zooms into Paul’s face. He rolls his eyes after Harry exits. PAUL
He has no chance. I would never hire these kind of people.
Paul proceeds to chuckle.
Left scene fades out,
Scene on the right: Two people are present.
Paul is conducting another interview, this time interviewing Mark who is a Caucasian man.
The camera zooms into his resume, showing his qualifications. Mark’s qualifications are not nearly as impressive as Harry’s.
The camera zooms into the faces of both people. (Similar to the scene on the left.)
Words are exchanged. Paul and Mark seem to get along very well. Mark aces the interview.
Mark shakes Paul’s hand. PAUL
We look forward to be working with you. Orientation starts Monday.
MARK
Thank you for your time and this opportunity. I will hope to see you on Monday! Mark exits.
Right Scene fades out.
SCENE THREE: HARRY’S HOUSE – NIGHT
Scene fades in.
The camera zooms into a phone. It rings and Harry picks up the phone. He is informed that his interview is unsuccessful and he did not get the job.
In a fit of rage he kicks his table and knocks over his lamp.
The camera zooms into Harry’s television.
Text scrolls across the screen of his T.V: “Although Harry was more than qualified for the position, he was overlooked because he was discriminated by his
employer.”
The T.V screen flashes. (implying that the channel has changed) A basketball game has come on.
The camera zooms closer into the T.V. A rookie playing for the opposing team by the name of Ling steps onto the court.
The camera shows several fans of the home team booing and heckling racist remarks. FANS
Fans are shouting racist remarks. This scene lasts around 12 seconds. Other fans are seen screaming gibberish, mocking the Chinese language.
The camera zooms into Ling. He looks at the crowd in disgust. He drives up behind the three point line and scores the game winning three pointer.
The television flashes and changes channels again.
A new scene appears with text scrolling across the screen, informing the viewers about the facts of racism and discrimination.
It is followed shortly by another block of text. This time informing the viewers what they can do to help
